This will help in securing the carpet back to place.
Step 6 – Move the carpet patch into the position and groom away any loose fibers present at the edge of the hole. Check it before application of the glue and put down a thin layer of carpet glue along the edges of the adhesive disk. Place the patch into the hole. Take care to make sure that the fit is even and snug. Lightly press and allow the backing on the patch to encounter the underlying tape, adhering to it properly. Align the patch accordingly so that the direction of the fibers in the patch match the direction of the entire carpet. You will have to position the patch in about 15 minutes, aligning the patch perfectly before the glue sets in. anchor your patch in place permanently. Remember, these actions need to be done very quickly, else the carpet would destroy.
Step 7 – Lastly, smooth the pile of the carpeting in order to hide the seams of the patch. Step 8 – With the use of an iron, setting it on high heat the patch pad for a minute. Press the iron down so that the heat transfers from the pad to the patch placed underneath the carpet. Remember the adhesive pad activates only when it has been heated. You will hear a slight sizzling sound when the iron touches the patch pad. This is because the water reacts to the heat. If the patch is bigger, go over the different spots of the patch with iron. This would be enough to cover the entire patch.
Step 9 – Lastly, remove the iron from the patch pad, and let the area to cool down. The glue on the adhesive pad that would not dry until the carpet has completely cooled down. Go over the patch with the help of a carpet brush and remove any of the loose fibers from the edge of the carpet.
